Beverly Austine Birkel Krysa (1935-2026), a former University of Texas Texas Stars captain and Apache Belle, passed away in Virginia from stroke complications at the age of 91.

A 1952 graduate of Tyler High School, Krysa began her performing career as a baton twirler and head drum major. She went on to attend Tyler Junior College, where she served as head dance captain for the Apache Belles. During her time with the precision team, she performed at the Cotton Bowl, the Junior Rose Bowl, and in showcase events across Denver, Milwaukee, and Mexico City.

Krysa later transferred to the University of Texas at Austin and joined the Texas Stars, performing alongside the Longhorn Band as part of the precision baton twirling group. She led the team as captain during her senior year before earning her degree in 1956.
