Petronila Madrona Geronimo
Petronila Madrona Geronimo was among the first majorettes in her province in the Philippines.
According to family accounts, she served as the band’s only majorette during her first three years of high school. In her fourth year, she trained two younger students, expanding the program into a three-member line.
Majorette tradition spanned three sisters. Lina Madrona Platon served during the 1950s, followed by Petronila, and later Veron Martinez in the 1960s.
Their story offers a glimpse into the early years of majorette programs in the Philippines, where many school and community bands began with a single twirler before growing into full majorette lines.
