
Dorothy Vinella Humphrey (1928-2002) was a drum major for Booker T. Washington HS, Dallas, and also Prairie View College, now Prairie View A&M University.
Prairie View is a public historically black land-grant university located northwest of Houston. It was founded in 1876, and is one of Texas’s two land-grant universities and the second oldest public institution of higher learning in the state.
Booker T. Washington HS was established in 1892 in Dallas, the first for African Americans in the Texas city. At the time, the population was 42,000.
