Free Media Relations Tools for Twirlers
Every day, journalists are looking for stories to share with their readers, listeners and viewers. Help build awareness of baton twirling by using these free tools.
Sample News Release
Call your local newspaper and ask for the email address of the community or sports editor and then send them the news release. Include a photo and phone number.
For electronic media (TV), call your local station and ask to speak with the assignment desk. Tell them about the award winner and ask if they’d be interested in doing an interview. They receive hundreds of these calls every week. Your call will stand out because it will be about baton twirling, something they never cover. Make your pitch more about the sport and less about the award. Tell the assignment editor why viewers will be interested in this story: For example, the story is unique, informative and uplifting.
