At the height of America’s majorette craze, a wide variety of baton twirling dolls and toys were available to children including this yarn craft kit, Margie the Majorette. Produced in the early 1960s by Lisbeth Whiting Co., Inc., Jamaica, New York, it was one of a series of six kits. Others included Debbie the Debutante, Daisy the Doodle Doll and Nina the Ballerina.
Marketed with the slogan “Easy to Make! Just Tie, Cut ‘n Braid!”, the kit came with everything a kid needed to assemble the 15-inch doll including pre-cut yarn. As with many children’s craft kits, most were opened, assembled and discarded, making it nearly impossible find a complete kit intact.
The above image is a compilation of two digital images I found. Neither were angled correctly, so I used AI software to recreate the cover of the box. The original cover had three die-cut display windows that showed colorful skeins of yarn included in the kit.
