Edith (Edie) Gimlin (Droney) was born in Nova Scotia and grew up in New London, Connecticut. During her growing up years she loved baton twirling and became a championship twirler winning many contests throughout the Northeast. In high school, she became the drum major for the Oswegatchie, Connecticut Fife and Drum Corps. After she married, she moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she became a beloved baton twirling instructor.
